How to play a DVD with a different regional code?

I was given a DVD as a gift from a friend in Italy. However the encoding doesn't allow it to play on my DVD player. Any suggestions? Is it possible to play it on the computer? I haven't had much success with that yet either, but then, I usually don't watch things on the computer, so that could just be me. What should I do? The film is not available in US format yet, so I can't just buy a copy with the right regional code.

How to play a DVD with a different regional code?
I have a friend in Sweden aswell who sent me a DVD, And I know Cyberlink PowerDVD playes PAL disks (that would be the encoding they use over there, We use NTSC). As for DVD players that play PAL DVD's I dont know much about, but I know she could play NTSC discs in hers, so there has to be dual capable ones.

Oh and although this would sort of difficult but you could try hooking you PC up to your TV if its the screen size that bothers you. Just something to look into...

cheers
Reply:Play it in your computer you can change the region code on the PC up to five times. when you are finished change it back.
Reply:Check out this site, they have a program called Region Free, it appears that it costs money and it probably would not be worth it just for one DVD. www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm
