tubs use less water
Reply:My parents just remodeled our house. We reorganized the bathroom and 3 rooms. They changed our bathroom. It used to have a tub, but now it has a shower. The contractor told us it's better to have a shower because it takes up less space. Also, your house will increase in value if you add tile and extras to your shower. When the inspector came he didn't have any problem with us having a shower and no tubs.
Reply:I don't know anything about California code but if they want a shower because of the problem of getting in and out of the tub (a problem shared by many senior citizens), there are tubs with doors. Probably not cheap but that would be a way to get around the problem. Another is to get another contractor, one who doesn't care about the code...
Reply:most building codes are generated by city due to the fact the geography dictates building codes (i.e earthquake retrofit for Bay Area, things like that) - your city may even have them online - do a search
