My friend wants to create a product and it will be manufactured by a factory not belonged to him. Should he print bar code number on the product? if yes, how to get one?
How to get a bar code number for a product?
whoever manufactors the product for him will create one.
Reply:To obtain a unique UPC label for each of your products, contact the Uniform Code Council and apply for membership. You will receive a number for your business and information necessary to create UPCs and bar codes.
Reply:I don't see any problems creating your own bar code as long as it is uniquely yours and not to be confused with the original manufacturer.
You can just get a bar code software of the Internet (for a fee) or software vendor as well as basic scanner. It is basically a new font for your computer and printer. You can simply devise a system to uniquely identify the different products and categories.
For example: BA1234
B for badminton, A for birdies and 1234 for unique type.
Then you just format BA1234 to bar code font!
You can then print it in a bar code format. You can adjust the size and etc. with the bar code and test print them.
Then buy a scanner and try to see first whether you can read that bar code before shipping.
Good luck
