How do I put in the code to have unlimited money on The Sims Deluxe for Windows?

I know the code, I just can't figure out how to imput it or where I need to go to do that. A friend to me to hold down shift and something else, but I've held down shift and every other key and so far nothing! Somebody help!

It does on the Sims 2 at least.
